Essex Schools Maths Competition Final 2018

Well done again to our amazing Year 6 Maths Team! They represented Lawford Mead to compete against 18 other heat-winning teams from schools all over the county, in the Final of the Essex Schools Maths Competition 2018.

They worked together to solve a range of mathematical puzzles, this time based on the theme of 'The Great British Bake-Off':

The questions were extremely challenging and demanded very high levels of accuracy, speed, resilience, and teamwork, as well as exceptional mathematical knowledge and understanding!

We are thrilled and very PROUD to announce that they came an incredible 2nd place, just 2 points behind the winners! They scored an amazing 122 points from a possible maximum score of 128.

A huge well done to you all - I'm sure this will be an occasion that you remember for many years to come!

Andrew Williams - So, Lawford Mead year 6 coming 2nd, and just two points behind the winners at an Essex wide maths event. That deserves some celebration. Hoping to get used to more prizes in all subjects in the coming years. It's a good demonstration of our childrens application and desire for success and a reflection on our teachers, LSAs and parents. Well done

Mrs Archer - Well done! it was a really tough competition and we are all so PROUD of you all for keeping focused and working as a team to achieve such an amazing result!!
