Children in Reception classes are learning their initial sounds and graphemes and they have lots of fun choices to practice their letter formation and handwriting. First they use their magic wands to write the letter in the air. Then there is a choice of activities that really help the children get to grips with a letter. For the letter ‘p’ the children wrote ‘p’ on a pumpkin, used a paintbrush in powder, pushed pins into potatoes and picked up pasta and put it in a pot! How many ‘p’s is that? The children got outside too and covered their outdoor space in ‘p’s with chalk! And of course, on their mini-whiteboards, practice makes perfect!
