Year 6 - Magistrates Workshop

Year 6 had a visit from a magistrate to learn about courtrooms and the consequences if you commit a crime.

After a quiz, the children sequenced a crime scenario and decided on the punishments. Then classes took part in a mock trial about a girl called ‘Sam’ who had sent malicious messages to a school friend. The children thoroughly enjoyed the workshop.

“I enjoyed being at the front in role as a winger deciding if someone was guilty or not. It felt real, like I was in a court.” - Shaylan

“I liked all of it! In particular I liked the trial as I had a speaking part.” - Lily

“I liked acting.” - Harry

“It was interesting learning about the job and what happens in a court.” - Ami
